The RECs Are Evolving
The Pennsylvania Peer Support Coalition (PaPSC) is excited to announce a major evolution of our Regional Empowerment Coalitions (RECs) to better support the peer-based professional community across the Commonwealth.
What’s Changing?
We’re reimagining what the RECs can be, not just quarterly meetings, but a continuous community.
New REC Format: Online Forums
To meet the needs of today’s peer workforce, especially as many face reduced hours or lack time for scheduled meetings, we are transitioning RECs from quarterly gatherings to an ongoing online forum. Accessible day or night, these forums will allow peer professionals to collaborate, share, and support one another whenever they need.
What Stays and What Gets Better
- No Agendas: Forum discussions are free-form, built on mutual curiosity and need.
- No Forum “Owners”: Everyone’s voice is equal. These are peer-led, peer-shaped spaces.
- No Topic Limits: If it matters to peer support, it matters here.
What PaPSC Provides
Our role is to help keep the space grounded in:
- Empowerment
- Career Development
- Advocacy
- Peer Connection
- Modeling Safe Spaces
- Sharing Wellness Resources
- Announcing Trainings and Events
A Personal Note from Abigail Boccardi, Experience and Engagement Manager
RECs are where I first found connection and community with PaPSC. They helped shape my path, and I know how vital they’ve been for so many others. That’s why this change means so much to me. I want to ensure that every peer has ongoing access to this kind of connection and support, no matter their schedule or setting.
