Certified Peer Specialist
Part-time positions up to 25 hours per week
Description: Peer Specialists provide supportive relationships with adults and/or transition aged youth ages 14-17 in their recovery journey with mental health and substance use challenges helping to meet recovery based goals and advance in a journey of recovery.
Duties: Ability to keep accurate case notes, complete daily hours logs and MHA time sheets, and document and report incidents. Must be able to manage their own work schedule.
Skills: Ability to establish a trusting, respectful relationship with peers. Direct, understand-able communication skills are necessary. Good decisions-making skills needed. Ability to provide services in an ethical and efficacious manner a must.
Requirements: Must be able to pass state approved Peer Specialist Certification course and Certification Board Exam with an additional 18 hours of MHA Peer Specialist training required each year. High school diploma or GED. At least 12 months of successful full, part-time or volunteer work experience within the last three years, or 24 credit hours of post-secondary education required. Lived experience with mental illness, substance use or the mental health system required.
