Certified Peer Support Specialist



Position Description:

Under the supervision of the Peer Support Supervisor, this person provides timely supports in helping enrolled peers achieve their recovery goals. The scope of the role of the Peer Specialist includes assisting their peers in articulating their goals for recovery, learning and practicing new skills, helping them monitor their progress, assisting them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on the specialist’s own recovery experience; and supporting them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services. Services are provided in accordance with all existing policies, procedures and regulations and in accord with the mission and values of the company.

Job Requirements:

Current or former mental health peer preferred.
High school diploma or GED.
Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communications.
Commitment to Peer choice and empowerment.
Basic understanding of WRAP and advanced directives.
At least one year of documented volunteer or paid work experience within the last 3 years.
Basic computer skills, including the ability to complete work in Word and Excel.
Must complete Certified Peer Specialist training and pass certification test within six (6) months of employment
Reliable transportation
Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and acceptable motor vehicle record check or State ID
Act 33, Act 34, and Act 78 clearances
Social security card
Immigration and naturalization (I-9) clearance
Drug screening clearance
