Supporting Youth and Young Adults Training in Delaware County

October 26 - October 27

Course Description: Young people who are leaving the children’s mental health or other child serving systems are frequently under supported as they navigate a new world of service delivery.  Providing peer supports for this population requires a generational lens as well as an understanding of the intersections that define systems of care.  This course is designed to help you provide youth centric peer support that keeps the young person at the center of their transitional pathway as envisioned by the young person themselves.   This course is informed by the Core Statements of the Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) and trauma theory, and includes consideration of developmental stages, brain development, strategies for increasing young people’s participation in decision-making and advocacy, and understanding of change and transition
