Parent Peer Support (PPS) Practice Model Training in State College

The Pennsylvania Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) is pleased to provide Parent Peer Support (PPS) Practice Model Trainings, to be offered by FREDLA, the Family-Run Executive Directors Leadership Association. This training is being provided in collaboration with such stakeholders as the Office of Developmental Programs, Bureau of Autism, and family members with lived experience and interested in co-occurring disorders.
The FREDLA PPS Practice Model provides a framework for the essential functions of a Parent Peer Support Provider, offering core competency training and practicing of skills across the six phases of parent peer support: Connect, Discover, Support, Empower, Prepare and Take Care. To facilitate the success of the PPSP workforce, the Practice Model includes training in effective supervision of the PPSP workforce and an optional Train the Trainer and coaching sustainability of the Practice Model. These trainings will provide the core competencies needed to provide family support.
